2012 Appreciation Day

2012 Men’s Major Singles Championships

Keith Robinson (runner-up), Peter Eagle (marker), Michael Quinlan (2012 Champion)

The final was a great match to watch. Michael was off to a great lead with a break of 14 to 4 as a result of some pin-point bowling. Keith dug deep and recovered to within 3 shots only to see Michael pull away again.

A very entertaining match between two real champions of the club. Congratulations to both bowlers. The many spectators and social bowlers were well entertained.

Thanks go to Peter for his steady marking and control over the game. Don Couch was waiting for an umpiring call, but alas was left to sit and enjoy a top notch match.

2012 Koala Carnival

This year’s Koala carnival was a great success. The Ladies day on the Monday had great weather as did the Men’s day on Friday.

Reports from players on the days were very positive about the carnival, the organisation by Mal and the effort by Sports club and kitchen staff. The meals were just what was needed in the middle of the day.

Thanks go to our sponsors of the carnival, in particular, Bill Austin’s Homeway First National of Castle Hill, who have sponsored the carnival for many years. This year Bill donated a 40″LCD TV which was raffled on the Friday. It is this level of support which helps the club provide facilities for the bowlers.

PARKINSON’S DISEASE

Parkinson’s disease is a movement disorder typically presenting with symptoms such as slowness of movement, muscle rigidity, instability and tremor. It was named after an English doctor, James Parkinson, who first described cases of a “shaking palsy” in 1817. Four decades later Jean-Martin Charcot added rigidity to Parkinson’s excellent clinical description and attached the name Parkinson’s disease to the syndrome.
