Congratulations to Ian, Peter and Mal in their 20:19 victory over David, Keith & Terry. With a late start to the game, I was only able to see the early parts of the game, and what I saw promised a tight game would ensue and this is confirmed in the final score.
The semi final played today between Terry & Peter’s teams was an enthralling match with the result going to an extra end after both teams were locked on 18 all after 21 ends. Terrys “Tornados” skipped out to a handy lead and lead 11 to 4 after 6 or so ends had been played. Two ends were killed in the first 4 ends…somebody meant business for sure!! Peters “Pensioners” secured 3 ends in a row to get 7 shots and make the score 12/11. Then it became a real battle of attrition with neither side yielding and some excellent bowls being played.
Petes team hit the front and led with a couple of ends to play.Terry and Peter put down some magnificient draw bowls as did all the players from both sides and the result could have gone to either team…with an extra end to be played after the tied result ( Yes Pete another draw!!!) Petes last bowl just failing to pull off the win after pushing his teams bowl through for the winning shot …it just failed to have the momentum to reach the jack by a few centimetres. A most enjoyable game of bowls….congratulations to all participants….. it doesn’t get any better!!!

Due to the heaviest rainfall in Sydney for 47 years (according to the radio stations) the 2nd round has been postponed. The dates for the remaining rounds need to be rescheduled because of this and the need to finish Round 2 Pennant matches on Sunday morning, 27th March.
The Events Calendar will be updated with revised dates once our bowls coordinator sorts out a new plan.
The first round was completed without mishap on Sunday morning.
Peter Booth and his lads had the Rod’s team under the hammer from the start and never looked like losing – final score 21 to 11.
A similar story was played out in the other game where Macca’s boys were just no match on the day for Mal and his team. Final score was a convincing victory to Mal 26 to 12.
Congratulations to those 2 teams and all the best for the coming rounds.
Thanks to Warren for giving his time to umpire for the morning. Your time and effort is appreciated by all players.
