2012 Mens Major Pairs Finals

The Major Pairs Semi-Finals were played on Saturday morning and the Final in the afternoon.
Although it had rained overnight and was still sprinkling in the morning at the scheduled starting time, both matches got underway after a short delay of just ten minutes.

In the first semi-final, Eric Hilton and Rod Gamble had a comfortable win over Don Carpenter and Alex Stewart 29-15. The second match however was a battle royal right through the 21 ends with Aaron Barnett and Ross Tinmouth getting the prize over Geoff Seamons and Kevin Tuckerman 22-21. This second semi was an excellent match with Aaron and Ross winning the last three ends and the match.

In the final, Aaron and Ross got a flyer of a start and led 11-1 after 5 ends, however at that point the heavens opened forcing a 1½ hour delay. Eric and Rod fought their way back into the match and at the 13th end trailed by just 5 shots, however Aaron and Ross then took the next 8 ends and the match 26-10.

This was a tough match mentally and because of the heaviness of the green, a physical one as well. All four players played some brilliant shots and the final score is not a reflection of the tightness of the match.
