2014 Pennants – The trials, triumphs and tribulations of Tuckerman’s Twelve

After a few weeks on the road, this week the boys in Grade 5 returned to West Pennant Hills. But first a wrap up of the previous rounds.

In Round 2, we travelled to Northmead for what we thought would be a tough game and we were not wrong. The Rod Foster Rockets had an absolute nail biting finish with some fine bowling from Skip Rod Foster and David Jeffrey (also know as the Sydney Roosters #1 fan) on the last end sealing the overall win for the side. The Hoffman Hornets had a tough day at the office but combined well in the end to finish strongly. The Kevin Tuckerman Kings put in a very strong performance to finish with a 27 shot win 35-8. The 5s took 4 points to 2.

In Round 3, the 5s hit the road again and travelled to Merrylands. The lads were expecting a rough one but were pleasantly surprised when we hit the lead early on. Although there were a few close moments throughout the afternoon, the side combined brilliantly to take the sweetest victory of all 81-54 on the big board, claiming 6 points. The 5s went into Round 4 leading Section 1 with 16 points overall.

In Round 4, the 5s returned home after two rounds on the road to face Parramatta RSL. The Rod Foster Rockets shot out to an early lead only to be caught up and tied 17 all on the last end. Lead Gary Tyrrell drew the winning shot to win the game 18-17. A solid effort.

The Hoffman Hornets faced an uphill battle all afternoon and ultimately were unable to get over the line with a loss this afternoon.

The Kevin Tuckerman Kings continued their unbeaten run this seasons with a 24-19 win. Some outstanding bowls from young David Wilson on the last end sealed the win with Kevin 'the KTuc' Tuckerman adding another with a super bowl right on to the jack.

The boys are looking forward to a well earned rest over Easter and ANZAC Day before returning to the green on 3rd May for a home game against Brush Park.

  1. Well done to the undefeated Tuckerman Kings. This week is a minor setback for the 5s, who I’m sure will be back in fine form in the next round to continue the good form.
