A fantastic afternoon of bowls was seen at the Hills Bowling Club today with Darrin Ede and Ross Fitzpatrick winning through to the Zone 10 Final of the 2014 NSW State Rookies Competition.
Scores were close early on with Ross edging out to a slight lead over Darrin 4-3. A quick turnaround from Darrin, picking up a two on the next end saw him leading the game 5-4 and from this point, Darrin planted his foot on the accelerator of the game and went for it.
Scoring a few multiple shot wins over successive ends, Darrin shot out to a six point lead 10-4. Ross was still very much in the game but was having more difficulty over the longer ends than Darrin.

In the end however, Darrin retook the match and control of the game, taking out the win 17-9 over Ross. It was great to see two of our newer bowlers participating so passionately in this competition. Our best wishes go to Darrin who will now compete in the State Finals held over the 1st and 2nd November at Raymond Terrace Bowling Club.
