Two great games worth of a semi-final in this morning's games in the 2017 Barry Walker Classic Pairs.
In the first semi-final, David Curtis and Ross Fitzpatrick were up against Clive Donohoo and Don Stubbin. David and Ross had a cracking start to the game, taking nine shots from the first three ends. After that hiccup, Clive and Don stabilised and came straight back into the game with the scores 13-10 after 12 ends. David and Ross needed something special, and they got it for a four on the next end. Clive and Don continued to chip away at David and Ross's lead with the scores sitting at 18-14 after 17 ends. The next two ends were a complete write-off. David and Ross picked up four shots, only to drop a four the very next end. In a close finish, David and Ross took the win by three shots 23-20.
In the second semi-final, Barry Walker and Keith Robinson played against John Skidmore and Michael Schwarcz. A fairly even game with both teams taking the lead and then conceding it back a few time throughout the game. John and Michael made a pretty good start with a few multiples to lead 11-7 after 10 ends. It was then Barry and Keith's turn to power ahead with a couple of two's and a three to take the lead 17-13 after 16 ends. Not down and certainly not out, John and Michael came right back into the game. They won the next five ends of the game including a three and a two on the last 2 ends to take the game 21-17.
