2019 Mixed Pairs Semis

In the first semi, Rosemary Roles and Ian Corke faced Kaye Bailey and Dallas Palm. A good start from Kaye and Dallas had them holding a lead of 9 to 1 after 5 ends. Dropping 4 consecutive ends then put Rosemary and Ian in the driver's seat at 12 to 9 after 9 ends. Kaye and Dallas took the next end with 3 shots to level the scores at 12 each. The scores were level on 2 more occasions as both teams fought hard to gain the upper hand.

On the last end, Rosemary and Ian trailed by 1 shot, 20 to 21. Kaye and Dallas were holding 2 shots until a perfectly executed shot from Ian guided the jack back to Rosemary's bowls and put them in a winning position. Despite their efforts, Kaye and Dallas were not able to recover the jack, losing 4 shots. The final score was a well-deserved win to Rosemary and Ian 24, to Kaye and Dallas 21.

The second semi saw Robyn Noonan and Steve Arnold dominate Wendy Wise and Ross 'Armchair' Iredale. After 10 ends Robyn and Steve led 17 to 3 having won 8 consecutive ends. By this stage, Wendy and Armchair were shell shocked, but not yet defeated.

Winning 7 of the next 10 ends, Wendy and Armchair regained some dignity and finished the game with a 13 to 22 loss. A good fightback.

Congratulations to Rosemary and Ian who will play Robyn and Steve in the final on Wednesday 2nd October.
