Ian's Corkers slipped behind from the start and fought to level the scores at 9 each on the 11th end. Wenty were not happy with WPH Sports catching them and put the foot down, winning the rink 21 to 14.
Tucker's Tinklers grabbed the lead on the 4th end with a 4 pointer, then gradually built their score. At the 2/3rd mark, they held a lead of 14 to 9. The challenge was to hold on for the rest of the match, and they did this in style, finishing with a 22 to 17 win. Great work guys.
Darrin's Dodgers were chasing Wenty for most of the game, trailing by no more than 3 shots until the Wenty skip pulled off what can only be described as "the shot of day" (probably the shot of his career!). With WPH Sports holding 1 shot and looking reasonably untouchable, the Wenty skip managed to pick it off clean converting a 1 shot loss to a 5 shot win. Impressive.
Final score was WPH Sports 54 to Wenty 63, 1 point to 9.
Congratulations to the lads from Wenty, continuing their unbeaten run this season. They are now in a very strong position to win the section and be in the playoffs, unless the wheels fall off.
Congratulaitons to our lads - everyone played well and never abandoned the fight.
I'm happy to not be describing this round as "snatching defeat from the jaws of victory". Unlike the past two rounds, we never held a commanding position to fritter away.
Next week we host The Hills for round 6. We are looking to exact justice after Eamon's impressive last bowl in round 1 to take the match by 1 shot!
