The final of the 2019 Women's Major Singles was between the 2017 Champion, Kaye Eagle and Robyn Procter marked by Women's President, Kaye Iredale.
The green had received over 200mm rain (or ~8 inches for oldies) over the past few days and was expected to be heavy with little finish to excite.
From the start, both Kaye and Robyn were getting very close and cosey with Jack. By the 6th end, it was starting to look a little as though Kaye may run away with the game, holding 7 to 2.
Slowly Kaye pulled further away from Robyn to lead 18 to 10 after 18 ends.
Doubts about the wet weather holding off for the duration of the game were realised when the first light drizzle started, and stopped, followed by rain heavy enough for Kaye and Robyn, and Kaye Iredale to seek the shelter of umbrellas.
The rain impacted both players with both players having to adjust line and weight to compensate
A few more ends, and more rain, and Kaye was looking into the jaws of victory, sitting on 24 to Robyn 18.
However, Kaye was unable to prevent
Robyn claimed the last end to take the match and Championship.
Final score Robyn 25 to Kaye 24. Congratulations Robyn and Kaye producing a great display of fine bowling, especially in the poor conditions.
