The delayed Final of the 2021 Major Pairs was played on Saturday 12th February. The weather provided some challenges for the players with patches of rainfall during the match. The players were the father and son team of Jim and Darrin Ede, versus the team of Stephen Hardwick and Chris Judkins.
Jim and Darrin got off to a quick start, taking 11 shots to one after the first 5 Ends. This spurred Steve and Chris on to win the next 4 Ends to bring the score to 11 v 7 by the 10th End. At this point Jim and Darrin decided to play hard, and by the 17th End had built commanding lead of 22 v 8.
Although they were 14 shots behind, Steve and Chris had no intention of giving up, and over the next 3 Ends scored a 5, 1 and 2 shots. This brought the score to a more respectable 22 v 16 by the 20th End. Unfortunately, they made their run too late and still required 6 shots on the last End to tie the score, which was just too difficult. Jim and Darrin won the last End and the game with a final score of 23 v 16.
