The publication and distribution of the Bowls NSW Magazine (and Lifestyle Options) in its current format will be suspended temporarily from 30th June 2013 as a result of a restructuring by the Bowls NSW Board.
The monthly issue currently in production and due to be delivered to members in early June will be the final issue that will be direct-mailed to every Bowling Member in NSW.
A new version of the Magazine is currently being planned with all production, advertising and printing to be outsourced to an external supplier. It is anticipated that initially this new Magazine will be distributed in bulk via Clubs when it is published.
The decision comes following a thorough review initiated by the Bowls NSW Board, which included consultation with key stakeholders and consideration of areas such as the Magazine’s content, format, quality and relevance as well as factors that will have an effect its long term financial viability.
The Magazine Department have all worked tirelessly to improve the presentation of the Magazine over recent issues whilst also ensuring that production costs were contained or even reduced.
While these improvements were certainly appreciated and applauded by the Board and Members, the costs associated with producing, printing and delivering a copy of the Magazine to every registered Bowling Member remained as a significant impost on the Association’s financial resources and was compounded by the downturn in advertising revenue in a tough economic climate.
The Board would like to pay special tribute to two long-term employees that will bid farewell to the Association after the restructure; Rex Davies who will ‘hang-up his boots’ after an illustrious 25 years as Managing Editor and Beverly Trippas who has been the Advertising Manager for the past 10 years. Rex and Beverly are to be thanked for their valuable contribution and dedicated service during their employment. They both leave a legacy with the Association of which they can be truly proud.
The contribution of the existing suppliers, advertisers and sponsors of the Magazine are also recognised and appreciated, in particular Kevin Robinson of Robinson Typesetting, AP Mail and Capital Fine Print who have been an integral part of the Bowls NSW Magazine production for many years.
Full details of the new version of Bowls NSW Magazine and its distribution will be available once they are finalised. News and up-to-date information can be sourced in the interim period through the Bowls NSW Website www.bowlsnsw.com.au
