Who can play?
The Bowls NSW Rookies is open to players who have been playing bowls for less than 30 months. To be eligible to enter you must not have been a bowler with any club (anywhere in the world) before 1 April 2014. Also you can only play in the Rookies twice - anyone who played in both the 2014 and 2015 Rookies is ineligible to enter in 2016. Previous State winners are ineligible to enter. You must be currently registered as a member of an RNSWBA Club to enter. (This restricts the event to men).
To be eligible, bowlers RNSWBA Registration Number must be 148429 or later (ie a bigger number). Contact Bowls NSW if you do not know your number!

What you'll play
You will play under the laws of the Sport and the Conditions of Play for the Rookies. This means (simply) that you can't kill the end, the jack is re-spotted on the 2m mark.
In Singles you use four bowls and the first player to score 17 shots will win the game.
In Pairs each player uses three bowls (lead plays three then skip plays three). Pairs games are 12 ends.
Where and when you'll play
In both singles and pairs, the initial stage of play will be round robin in sections at local venues
Singles - Sat 27 & Sun 28 August
Pairs - Sat 17 & Sun 18 September
Zone Finals (if needed) will be played on Sat 24 & Sun 25 Sept
This event is all about playing - so we try to ensure that everyone gets at least two games. The best performed teams then progress to the knockout stages.
Zone winners proceed to the State Finals at Raymond Terrace on 8-9 October. Zone winners may apply for travel assistance to help towards their cost of attending the State Finals.
