From the President – February Management Committee Meeting

Tonight, I emailed this updated to all members to inform them of the decisions taken by your Management Committee at our last meeting. I would also like to apologise to members for not providing a January update.

2016 Pennants
As members may be aware, the Zone has now completed Pennant Gradings and Allocations. WPH will contest Grades 5, 6 and 7 in 2016. Three trials have been held against Rosehill, the Hills and Greenlees Park with another against West Pymble scheduled for the coming weeks. I would also like to wish all teams competing in the State and Reserve Fours this weekend the best of luck.

Open Day - Sunday 3 April 2016
As stated at our last AGM, membership remains an issue. Our Section has been fortunate over the last twelve months to have new members join our ranks. However, this was through no grand design but sheer good luck. As part of your Management Committee’s commitment to improving membership, I am pleased to advise our first open day will be held on Sunday 3 April 2016. This will be a ‘bring a friend’ day, encouraging members to bring a friend along to the club to learn a few basics of our game. It will also be advertised to the wider community.

Social Bowls
At the last AGM, your Management Committee was asked to work towards enhancing social games during the pennant season. There is now a sheet up on the board in the Sports Room for non-pennant players to indicate their availability for bowls during this time. It is your Management Committee's intention to use these numbers to select better games offering a high-quality bowling experience.

Orange Blossom Festival Shield
As members are aware, WPH successfully won the Orange Blossom Festival Shield in 2015. While our club was willing to continue with this interclub competition, others in the area were not. It has been resolved to introduce a new interclub competition with the inaugural event held at WPH in September this year. More information on the development of this competition will be made available to members as it comes to hand.

School Bowls
As noted in the December update, West Pennant Hills is delighted to welcome back Pacific Hills Christian School who will commencing a five week season from 11 February 2015. Michael Schwarcz and the Coaches will be leading these sessions, however, any and all assistance is always welcome.
