From the President – March Management Committee Meeting

Yesterday, I wrote to all members to inform them of the decisions taken by your Management Committee at our last meeting. To paraphrase Prime Minister Turnbull, it is an exciting time to be a member of the West Pennant Hills Men's Bowling Section.

2016 Pennants
As the Pennant Season is now underway, I want to wish all players the best of luck. We weren't as successful as we would have liked in the first round, however, I am confident that West Pennant Hills will have a great year.

Open Day - Sunday 3 April 2016
Planning is well underway for our first Open Day. Members will shortly receive a personal invitation from me asking you to join me on Sunday 3 April with your family and friends. My thanks to Max Walters for leading this project.

Social Bowls
At the last AGM, your Management Committee was asked to work towards enhancing social games during the pennant season. During the first round of Pennants, we had 40 bowlers playing either home or away. This represents 50 percent of the Section and it a great achievement.

Changes to No Smoking legislation
As members may be aware, the NSW Government has recently changed legislation regarding smoking areas. The only smoking area outside is the paved undercover area. No smoking is permitted on the greens or the grass surrounding the greens. This means there is nowhere to smoke on the top green. Your Management Committee will be reminding all members and guests of these changes ahead of all games over the coming weeks.

Corporate Bowls
West Pennant Hills is delighted to welcome numerous corporate bowls groups
. We recently hosted a group from Masters Home Improvement and another group from the Cherrybrook Rural Fire Service. A large group from the Cherrybrook Chinese Community Association will be join us at the end of March. If members are available, it would be great to have some of those who make WPH the friendliest club in the Hills on hand to assist.

Game Start Times
Again, some members have been turning up late for bowls or in some cases not at all. It is imperative that members turn up on time for bowls or advise the selectors as soon as possible if they are not attending. Game times for regular social bowls are provided on the Koala Blog or by clicking
here.

The full minutes of the meeting have been published on the Koala Blog for all members and can be accessed here.
