From the President – November Management Committee Meeting

This afternoon I wrote to all members to inform them of the decisions taken by your Management Committee at our last meeting.  It has been a very big month for West Pennant Hills and I am delighted to be able to update everyone.

On a personal note, members may have noticed I have not been around the club as much recently, especially after bowls on a Wednesday or Friday. I have recently accepted a short term secondment to the Office of the Minister for Transport and Infrastructure which has seen my working hours change significantly. I want members to know that my commitment to the administration of our section remains unchanged. I am very grateful to all Management Committee members for their assistance.

WPH wins inaugural Zone 10 Encouragement Award
As members would be aware, I was honoured to accept this award at the Zone 10 Presentation Night held last Thursday. Our section makes a great contribution to the Zone and is known for our ability to deliver major events to a high standard. In many respects our section goes above and beyond to ensure visitors from across the Zone have enjoy the best possible experience at West Pennant Hills.

Life Membership for Michael Schwarcz
It was very pleasing to have close to 60% of the section turn out and vote on the Special Resolution to award Michael Schwarcz life membership. I look forward to presenting Michael with his badge at our Presentation Day.

Sports Room Renovations
With the significant progress the Sports Club has made already on Stage 1B on the renovations, there have been some challenges faced by members accessing the Sports Room.

I ask for members' patience during the renovations as they will ultimately lead to an enhanced club experience.

Members who are unable to contact the Sports Room on bowls days are encouraged to contact the club's main switchboard on (02) 9980 8500 and you will be transferred to one of the selectors. If this is still unsuccessful, our Selectors can be contacted on their respective mobiles:

Competition Panel
Members would have seen other members out on the green recently completing the 40 bowl test as requested by the Competition Panel. I recently completed my first two drills and have begun to see an improvement in my draw bowls already.

For those who are yet to complete a drill, you can download a copy of the 40 bowl instruction sheet and form from the Koala Blog or by clicking here. Completing the test takes between 30 and 45 minutes and can be done at any time the green is open.
