Starting with a field 12 players, David Jeffery and Jim Ede both efficiently dispatched their opposition over several rounds to reach the Final, to be played on the afternoon of Wednesday 24th February. Although the weather was foreboding, play commenced. However, after only four Ends, play was abandoned due to heavy rain. The score was David 0, Jim 5. The game was rescheduled for 9:00AM Friday 26th February.
The game recommenced, and by the sixth End David took his first shot from Jim with the score now 1 v 6. Jim was relentless keeping the mat away from David's grasp. It was the tenth End before David managed to claim another shot, the score now 2 v 12. Jim continued with a single-minded focus on the goal, and just kept building his lead.
David unfortunately wasn't able to find the form that had delivered him to the Final match. By the 22nd End, David took his last shot with the score at 10 v 25. Over the next three Ends Jim took 3 shots, then one, and then seized victory with a 2 shot finish, with the final score of 10 v 31.
Congratulations to Jim Ede for his convincing victory. Commiseration to David.
