A good day for West Pennant Hills with the 5s and 7s taking out big wins!
In the 5s, we were at home against Denistone Sports. The Peter Eagle All-stars (Mike Brown, John Leonard, Rod Foster and Peter Eagle) performed well again but petered off a bit towards the end, winning their rink 29-18. The David Wilson Warriors welcomed "new" member Kevin Ross back into the side (Jeremy Thiedeman, Michael Schwarcz, Kevin Ross and I) to take out a narrow win 22-19 and the Kevin Tuckerman Kings (Les Watkins, Darrin Ede, Geoff McIntosh and Kevin Tuckerman) had a tight game all the way before a late surge saw them run away with it 18-11. The 5s claimed an 10-0 win ahead of a grudge match against cross-town rivals Pennant Hills at WPH.
In the 6s, the side from Beecroft were too good with home-ground advantage proving to be the deciding factor. The D’Costa Dreadnoughts (Norm Jackson, David Jeffery, Rod Gamble and Gerard D’Costa) went down 16-19. The Palm Pilots (Gary Tyrrell, Dom Surace, Ross Fitzpatrick and Dallas Palm) went down 12-19 with the PVT Titans (Brian Joyce, Gary Tyrrell, Ross Iredale and Paul van Tilburg) going down 18-21. The 6s took no points from yesterday's game and will be looking to improve before their next game against Wenty Leagues at Wenty Leagues.
The 7s recorded another great win, this time over Rosehill with a stonking big board win of 78-37. The Max Walters Marauders (Clive Donohoo, John Skidmore, Ian Corke and Max Walters) has a big 30-10 win. Cole’s Crusaders (Steve Arnold, David Curtis, Merv Cannon and Bob Cole) had the closest of the three wins with a 25-19 result. The Stubbin Superstars (Michael, Trimboli, Jim Ede, Barry Walker and Don Stubbin) also had a big win 23-8.
