  1. Round 8, 24th April

Grade 3 vs Merrylands at Merrylands

This was a round we really needed to win. Unfortunately we lost all rinks to go down 0 to 6.

Next week we must all perform above our last couple of games. We each need to ask ourselves ‘what can I do better next week?’, ‘how can I better support my team?’, “how can I improve our position in the head without giving the shot away?”.

If these questions ring a bell with you, think about how well you played your game and what contribution you made.

    • I feel Dallas makes a good point here. It was a challenging day at the office for many in the 3s with noteworthy performances from some team members. We need to build on the successful performances of those members and push for a better overall performance underpinned by greater consistency and smarter tactical play.

      • Thanks Apprentice. Looks as though other sides have nothing to say about their day, or maybe they just don’t read the blog?

        • I wasn’t there, but we had a great team that won the Zone grade 4 last year and came fourth in the state.
We went up a grade, we lost integeral Players. Don’t worry oor Grade 3 are doing great. This their first
year in grade 3 they have done well better than expected .

          You detractors get real.
Next year with some new we will get into the finals the year after we will win the Zone in the meantime we
          are gaining knowledge.

          Go! you great ONES.

On another subject who is this “hoon” I am sure you don’t mean the Barry’s, one with a “y” and with “ie”.

  2. Round 7, 17th April

Grade 3 against Rydalmere Central at home.

Well lads, we may have shown good form in game 2 when we played these guys on their home turf, however, today they returned the favour and took the points 5:1.

Nev’s Nellies performed well and never looked in doubt, and were the only team of ours to score a win.

Macca’s Maulers will need to find some claws! Having fought our way back into the game to draw level at 17 all on 17 ends, we then dropped the ball going down by 4 shots at the bell. Congratulations to Michael for a strong game – the best of our side on the day. We all missed Bazza and our thoughts are with you.

Terry’s Tramplers had a hard time of the whole game. Laddie had a good game as his first game in Grade 3 – well done and welcome to the side.

Final result – 5 points to Rydalmere.

We certainly need to lift our game for the remaining 3 matches. Each of us need to focus for the whole game and none more then myself. I’ll be at the club on Tuesday afternoon for practice at about 1:00pm. Anyone wanting to join in would be very welcome.

    • Hi

Nice to see the Dream Team win for a change now they will now know how the other teams feel when the other teams lose.

      • I feel this is a tad pointed Mole. At the risk of revealing my secret identity, as a member of that team I find this comment a bit hurtful. I will be the first to admit I was absolutely shocked by my selection in that team and the first to admit it is hardly a ‘dream team’ in terms of consistent performance. No-one goes out on the green to play a bad game. I feel the 3s are a fairly cohesive side where everyone is supportive of one another. I don’t mind constructive criticism but I feel that comments like this don’t belong in the public domain.

        • I agree with you it is a bit pointed we all try our best to win even when we loose we have tried our best.

  3. Round 6, 10th April

Grade 3 vs Putney Tennyson at Putney.

Despite the blue skies and gentle breeze, temperature in the mid 20’s, we were outplayed on our competitor’s home turf.
Terry’s Tramplers managed a small win whilst the other teams suffered losses. We walked away with 1 point.

At least some of our players walked away with raffle prizes, so not a complete loss!

Unfortuantely, we have now slipped to 4 slot overall in the section results. We need to lift our act for the remaining 4 games if we are to have a shot at the playoffs.

  4. Round 5

At the halfway mark of the Pennant season all teams are performing well.

    Grade 3

Congratulations to the the team of Warren Phillips, Peter Eagle, Matt Stubbs and Terry Barnett on winning 4 from 5.

    Grade 5

The team of Norm Jackson, Les Watson, David Jeffery and Kevin Hoffman have put in an outstanding effort and are currently undefeated.

    Grade 6
WPH is currently running 4th. We held a big margin over the leaders Carlingford only to be pegged back.
Congratulations to David King, Max Bell, Max Walters and BarryWalker on winning 4 fom 5 games.

    Grade 7
With only 5 points separating all clubs, WPH currently sits in 5th place on the table.
This grade has already exceeded expectations and all players will benefit from the competition.
    Well done to all concerned.

We look forward to continued success in the second round.

  5. Round 4

    Grade 3 vs Ryde Phoenix – 20th March 2010

All our teams started out well with a good margin showing on the big board. However, as the afternoon wore on, Macca’s Maulers had a tough challenge holding onto shots against a very effective Phoenix 3rd. Final result was a loss by 1 shot.

Nev’s Nellies jumped out of the start gate and held a commanding lead for most of the game. A late challenge from Phoenix resulted in the scores level going into the last end. With Nev’s Nellies holding 2 shots, the luck was against them as the Skip from Phoenix managed to remove both shots. Final result was a 6 point loss.

Terry’s Tramplers started strong and finished the same way. They were always in command and their margin was enough to get the side over the line.

Final score was 61 to 59 giving us a 4 points to 2 victory and firming our place at the top of the section leader board with 18 points from 4 rounds.
