  1. Round Nine – 3s against Ryde Ex. Phoenix

It was an excellent day against Ryde Ex. who were looking to cement their spot in the playoffs with a win against WPH. However, the boys from WPH proved more of a challenge than many Ryde Ex. players expected.

The Roach Raiders played as one with all players putting in an excellent performance to emerge victorious 17-12.

The McIntosh Marauders came back strongly and finished like champions despite being denied victory 18-21.

The President’s IV played with gusto and guts to finish with rousing cheering and applause from the crowd on 20 shots to 13.

All round a gutsy effort from all players.

    In the other grades…
The 5s are playing exceptionally well leading in to the final round with a 5.5 to 0.5 win over the section leaders Northmead. Excellent performances from MJ’s team, the Hoff’s Beach Bums and the Field Marshall’s High Command!

The 6s were unlucky against a determined Brush Park, going down 6-0

And our 7s demonstrating their determination and “never-say-die” attitude taking down the Hills (2) in outstanding fashion 5-1, beating the Hills at home and away!

An excellent effort from all grades, keep the momentum going into the final round!

  2. Dallas and Mal

    On behalf the selectors THANKS.

Its a job that is hardly ever appreciated but it draws a great amount of criticism.

  3. Hi Mole,

I think our editor does enough, so I will bring you up-to-date.

Following our great win on last Saturday over the previous second placed team Beecroft, we have now overtaken them and in fact are the best placed 2nd some 2 points in front of Beecroft and 4 1/2 points in front of the 2nd placed teams in the other 2 sections.

We have now positioned ourselves for a chance to play in the Post Sectionals, however the undefeated Northmead and a good Putney Tennyson team stand in our way. Having said that, the ball is in our court and if we are good enough we will make it through.

Right at the moment, the selectors have given us three well balanced teams and I think we have a good chance.

    Mal

    • Mal,
Thanks for the excellent news on the 5’s progress this season. I’d be more than happy to see the side make the playoffs and bring home a state flag.

      Keep it up guys.

      Well done to our selectors.

      Dallas

  4. Where is our editor doen’t know that Grade 5 is on the Brink of Greatness. Maybe worrying to much about other matters

    • Perhaps a player from Grade 5 side can best describe their position, and how the side is playing.
I’m very pleased for all the Grade 5, 6 and 7 players as well as the 3’s and fully agree with Mal’s earlier comment. My earlier comment on yesterday’s result for the 3’s was not meant as criticism, rather questioning how we can finish the season the way we started it – as winners.

  5. There’s been a lot of comment about the performances of the 3’s lately, some of it good but also a lot of critism particularly of various players.

We all need to stop and remember, these guys are the ones the selectors consider to be the most cabable to play in the grade, and frankly, I agree with them. We must all remember, they are playing a grade above last year, they lost a number of last years higher graded players even before the season started, they have had a number of players miss games through injury or personal reasons and, to their credit they actually led at the halfway mark of the competition.

I for one will not be critical of anyone that goes out each weekend and plays their best, even though their best may not be good enough on occasions. I don’t wish to hear anymore critism of any players, whether they are playing in the 3’s or 7’s, and remember that body language speaks just as loud as words.

Finally, I would like to say to the 3’s …. well done.
