President’s Day

It was very touching to be joined by my family and friends to celebrate my President's Day. I cannot believe that it was three years ago that I took on this role.

The day started with a game of bowls. A combination of pairs and triples was enjoyed by 42 bowlers from WPH, the Hills and Pennant Hills. Although the fresh wind and the quick greens proved a challenge, all games were fun and celebrated the true spirit of our game. I had the pleasure of being in a pairs game skipping against Terry Rae from Pennant Hills. Terry is one of the nicest blokes you will ever meet and tells me that he was just having "one of those days" where all his bowls found a happy home in the head. I am not so sure about Terry's excuse.

After the game, we had lunch in the Iron Bark Room. MC Extraordinaire Max Walters had control of proceedings. In Max's inimitable style, he led off with a great bowls joke before introducing Michael Schwarcz. Michael has been a great friend of mine at West Pennant Hills. We had the unique experience of serving the other as Bowls Coordinator during their time as President. Michael's words meant a great deal and I thank him for them. Terry Rae spoke on behalf of our nearest neighbours Pennant Hills.

Following lunch, we were able to get a photo of all the living Presidents of West Pennant Hills. In the photo (left to right) are Keith Robinson (1996-1999), Barry Walker (1990-1993), Nev Roach (2002-2003), Michael Schwarcz (2006-2009), Terry Barnett (2009-2011), Peter Eagle (2011-2013), Warren Phillips (2013-2014) and me (2014-2017). Thank you to you all for joining me at WPH yesterday.

It is important to note that I am not the only one stepping down from a very important role. Dallas Palm will be stepping down in September after 12 years on your Management Committee including nine years as Secretary to five Presidents. Michael Schwarcz will be stepping down also after 21 years on your Management Committee which includes service in every Executive position including three years as President.

It was also fantastic to enjoy a quiet ale at the end of the day with my grandfather Richard Pilling. For those of you who don't know, Pop was a bowler at Brush Park Bowling Club, a member of their 1972 No. 3 State Pennant team (which won the flag) and a life member. Pop used to push me up to the club in my stroller so he could watch the bowls and I still remember having a lemonade and sitting under the shelter watching. I also had my first roll up one Friday night during the holidays at Brush Park with Pop instructing from the bank. It is probably his fault that I took up the game in the first place.Lifestyle Leading to Impotence Young men using or that are an abuse of recreational drugs and alcohol are cialis line prescription more likely to be facing this problem of erectile dysfunction into their lives.
