TIPS FOR THE UNEDUCATED #1

  • Overheard in a midweek triples match that the seconds keep the scorecard. This is incorrect. The skips keep the scorecard in triples. The skips also keep the scorecard in pairs. DR 2.3 & 3.2.2
  • It was noted that in round 1 of the Major Pairs that a substitute was approved by the Controlling Body. The original player’s name should be shown on the card. The scorecard should be given to the umpire for his notation approving the name of the substitute which is also shown on the scorecard.
  • There has been a change to the law on where a player must have his feet on the mat prior to and at the time of delivering a jack or bowl. The player must have all or part of one foot on or above the mat. Law 7.1
