Members of the Men's bowls section today voted unanimously in favour of changing our constitution to remove gender as a membership requirement.
This change brings us into line with the recent announcement by Bowls NSW, and allows women to join our section and enter competitions.
Women bowlers have joined in the historically all male Saturday bowls in our club since the start of 2019 and this latest change is a natural and welcome next step for our club.
The updated constitution can be read here: Constitution 2019

We have just turned a momentous corner with this unanimous decision. However, we as a Club had already been initiating plans to open up bowling to the ladies on Saturdays. The men’s section had a vote on this initiative which was overwhelmingly passed and last December we decided that January 2019 would be the momentous occasion. The success of this can be seen with number of Saturday lady bowlers who have taken up this opportunity, culminating in increased activity and utilisation on our greens.
One big corner has now been turned and I now look forward to the day when the 2 sections become even more unified. Max Walters
