WPH Women’s Bowling Club History

Ever since WPHWBC made it to the State Playoffs in Culburra in 2015 many of us have wondered if the club had previously made it to the State Play offs.

A rainy day is a good day to rummage through old minute books and that is what I did today with success.

Back in 1995 WPH ladies June Oriel, Val Wheeler, Joan Johnson, Joyce Sullivan, Benita Woods, Leonie Kermond, Angela Scovazzi and June Manning with Sue Bowers as reserve won the Grade 4 Pennant. They went on to win the Regional Play Offs held on 26 & 27 June 1995. That qualified them for the State Play Offs in September which were held in Cronulla.

They had a convincing win against Gymea but after a valiant effort both teams In the WPH side lost to Gloucester. Gloucester went on to beat West Tamworth in the Final.

If anyone has any other history of memorable participation by WPHWBC that is yet to make it to the blog please let me know.
