Zone 10 Singles

Darrin Ede competed in the Open Singles at Merrylands Bowling Club on Saturday. Darrin played Grant Gudmunson (Denistone) who outgunned Darrin despite anything Darrin put in. Congratulations to Grant on your 31 to 15 win.

In the Senior Singles matches Steve Hardwick and Dallas Palm headed to Castle Hill BC, and Ross played his first match at Wenty Leagues. They all had a bye in the morning and enjoyed perfect bowling weather in the afternoon.

Steve faced a very strong opponent in Charles Edgarton (Merrylands) who was very comfortable on the fast Castle Hill green. Charles won the match 31 to 8.

Dallas played against Chris Hainey (Wenty Leagues). After a slow start, Dallas levelled the scores at 9 all after 14 ends. From this point, Dallas crept ahead to win 31 to 15. In his second game on Sunday, Dallas started well against PJ Stankevicius (Toongabbie) and was unable to maintain the consistency leaving PJ to take a 31 to 19 win.

Ross played against Kevin Furniss (The Hills) in a marathon singles event. The lasted 45 overs and took a little under 5 hours! The lights had to be switched on so they could finish their match. After getting off to a solid start winning the first 7 ends (all singles) Ross looked to be in a good position. However, Kevin was able to claw back the gap and the two of them played tic tac for the remainder of the match. Ross lost 30 to 31.

A former WPH Sports player and past President, Peter Eagle (The Hills) won both games on Saturday defeating Tony Fullagar (Greenlees Park) and Mark Gorlicki (Greenlees Park), before losing his clash against Jeff Gallagher (Wenty Leagues). A great effort Peter.
