After the mildly windy days leading up to this final, it was a pleasant relief to have only mild breezes for the final of the Barry Walker Classic Pairs.
The Barry Walker Classic Pairs is a tournament designed to marry an experienced and championship winning player with a less experienced player. This provides an opportunity for the less experienced, or so far less successful player, to have a better chance of being in the winning circle.
Barry Walker is a long-standing member of WPH Sports Club, commencing his bowling career at the club over 40 years ago. Barry has successfully challenged club championships, represented the club and is a past President of the Men's Bowls Section.
The final event between Don Stubbin/Michael Trimboli and Clive Donohoo/Ross Fitzpatrick Saw Don and Michael take early control of the match, and after 8 ends, the scores were 11 to 3 in their favour having won 6 ends.
However, as is often the case in bowls, things change. Clive and Ross decided "enough was enough" and took 6 of the next 7 ends to hold a lead of 19 to 12 (a 6 on one end certainly helped!).
The final score was 22 to 18 to Clive and Ross.
