2019 Mixed Pairs

Under clear skies and very much appreciated warm spring weather, four first-round matches and one second-round match were contested.

Sharon Houston and Don Couch took the battle to Kaye Bailey and Dallas Palm levelling the scores at 5 each after 6 ends. A four on the next end gave Kaye and Dallas a break which acted as the springboard for their 25 to 10 win.

In the Ross vs Ross battle, Lorraine Singh and Ross Fitzpatrick faced off against Wendy Wise and Ross 'Armchair' Iredale. This was a close battle from start to end with both teams winning short streaks. On the last end, Lorraine and Ross were holding 6 shots and needed 4 for a draw and an extra end. Armchair was not comfortable with the prospect of losing having led for the whole match and cut them back to 2 shots to take a 19 to 17 win.

The husband and wife teams of Elaine and Jim Ede, and Helen and Michael Quinlan was an interesting match with the well-practised Ede team stamping their dominance over the Quinlans. A valiant effort by Michael playing in his 3rd game since a long break form bowls for medical reasons. The final score was a win to Elaine and Jim 28 to 12.

Angela Jones and Rod Wright matched up against Kaye Iredale and Kevin Tuckerman. The early stages looked very favourable for Angela and Rod leading 11 to 4 at the halfway mark. As has been seen a number of times. the second half was very different with Kaye and Kevin taking the lion's share of the points. The scores were level at 15 all on 17 ends. The final score was Angela and Rod 17 to Kaye and Kevin 20.

The second-round match between Dom Surace and Robyn Procter, and Robyn Noonan and Steve Arnold was a tough day at the office for Robyn and Steve struggling to maintain contact in the first half.
