2019 Mixed Triples Semi-final

Having scraped through the first round match last week against June Huntley, Steve Arnold and Kevin Tuckerman, the team of Dallas Palm, Kaye Eagle and Ross Fitzpatrick were able to pull another match win out of the bag. Suffice to say our bowling in this match against Elaine Ede, Jim Ede and Bob Cole (aka "Banger Bob") was just a little better than Round 1 (thankfully).

Banger Bob's team picked up a 5 pointer to take the lead 7 to 1 after 5 ends. Not to be shaken, Ross's team diligently worked to gain the lead picking up a 4 shot and string of singles, only to watch the lead momentarily fall into in the hands of "Banger Bob" as the result of a 5 point end! So, we again built a lead (thanks Ross) to be 19 to 12 after 17 ends and feeling moderately comfortable. Then it happened again! "Banger Bob" took 5 shots from us to close the lead to 2 shots.

Although we won 14 ends, the final score was a narrow win of 22 to 18. Enough to get us to the final.

Mention must be made of the bowling of Elaine, who was within a mat length or closer for the whole game. Very consistent bowling, that I could not match on the day.

And, we must not forget the incredible Ross Fitzpatrick and his ability to deliver the wrong bias bowl. Twice in this match.

The second semi-final match was between the Round 1 high score team of Keith Robinson, Robyn Procter and Ross "Armchair" Iredale and first-round bye recipients, Robyn Noonan, Dom Surace and Rod Wright.

Armchair and his team lept out to a commanding lead leaving Rod to ponder what he needed to do to keep in touch when they were trailing by 7 shots. Fighting on, Rod and his team worked hard to keep in contention with Armchair but just could not make it happen. The final score was Rod 12 to Armchair 22. Rod and his team won 9 ends to Armchair 12.

Congratulations to the winning teams who look forward to the upcoming final to be played Wednesday 29th May at 12:1pm.

Dallas Palm - from the rink, and happy for a win.
