2019 Pennants – Round 9 vs Merrylands

Today was a test of how well we could cope with a fast green (i.e. faster than our club) coupled with shifting winds and turbulence. The well-prepared green at Merrylands was sure to be a challenge for us.

At the half way mark, Tucker's Tinkers were trailing 9 to 12 with 5 ends each. Merrylands crept ahead opening the lead to 13 to 21 after 17 ends. Winning multis on 3 of the final 4 ends brought The Tinkers close to victory. Final score was 20 to 22 Merrylands. A great fight back.

Wilson's Warriors were in a little bit of strife after 10 ends trailing 8 to 15. Despite winning 5 ends of the second half, they could not reel back Merryland's lead. The closing score was a loss of 17 to Merrylands 25.

Following last week's return to form, Darrin's Dodgers took control of their rink from the outset leading 14 to 3 after 10 ends. Merrylands rose to the challenge and won more ends than us in the second half, to fall short at the finish. The 21 end score was The Dodgers 21 to Merrylands 15. A big thanks to Merv Cannon stepping in for Ross Fitzpatrick, and delivering a strong game.

Next week is our last round and is against Wenty Leagues, who are dominating the section this year. We'll be looking to take some skin off them to finish the season with 5 wins.
