Mitchell Plate 2018

The inaugural Mitchell Plate was run this year for those women who are not playing Pennants. West Pennant Hills joined the Mitchell District this year and were one of only two clubs to enter.  The other club was Toongabbie.

In the first round at WPH the pairs team of Marion Corrigan and Kaye Bailey won their game 22-10 while the triples team of Lynne Champion, Sharon Houston and Cass Joyce won 23-11 thereby taking the full 5 points.

The second round was played in trying drizzly conditions at Toongabbie where the pairs team lost 13-21 while the triples team lost 14-19. So Toongabbie took the full 5 points.

This necessitated a further deciding round which was played today at The Hills BC. Boy what a nail biter! Both teams were down at one stage and down a total of 12 points on the master board. Both teams fought back with the triples going down 14-17. The pairs team were leading 21-18 and holding 2 shots and the Plate when the Toongabbie skip removed the WPH shot bowl. This meant that the pairs team won 21-19 but the master board went to Toongabbie 36-35. Just one point meant that Toongabbie came away the winners for 2018.
